EZ-USB? serial bridge controller

Full-speed 12 Mbps bridge controllers with configurable and fixed-function options

anchor

Overview

EZ-USB? serial bridge controller is a family of full-speed 12 Mbps bridge controllers offering both configurable and fixed-function options. They offer configurable serial communication channels for UART/I2C/SPI interfaces, with ultra-low-power consumption in standby mode (5 ?A). The fixed-function bridges can be easily configured to work as USB to UART, USB to I2C, or USB to SPI bridges without requiring any firmware development by the user.

Key Features

  • UART, I2C, SPI-to-USB bridges
  • Single- and dual-channel support
  • Up to eight CAPSENSETM buttons
  • USB-IF battery charging spec v1.2
  • Integrated regulator & oscillator
  • Integrated termination resistors
  • Windows and Mac OS drivers
  • Linux and Android OS drivers
  • VID/PID and serial config utility
  • Ultra-low 5 ?A standby consumption
  • 24-QFN, 32-QFN packages

About

Users can benefit from the USB serial configuration utility designed for Windows to set up diverse initialization parameters for the device. This user-friendly graphical application offers an interactive platform for defining the assorted boot parameters that are stored in the device's flash memory. Through this utility, users can save their preferred configurations in either text or XML formats. Similarly, the utility facilitates the loading of specific configurations from either text or XML formats. The configuration utility encompasses the following functions: viewing the current device configuration; selecting and configuring I2C, CAPSENSE?, battery charging, and GPIO settings; configuring USB vendor ID (VID), product ID (PID), and string descriptors; saving or loading configurations as needed.

  • Ultra-low-power consumption in standby mode
  • Ease of design and flexibility
  • No firmware development is needed, thanks to the dedicated configuration utility

The EZ-USB? serial bridge controllers portfolio includes several options - bridging to diverse interfaces, with one or two UART channels, with fixed or configurable functions. Get started with EZ-USB? serial bridge controllers with our simple guide. Start by exploring which serial function (I2C, SPI, UART) you want to convert to USB or vice-versa, then select the right product, and download the necessary guides. Lastly, install the USB-Serial software development kit and start customizing, reaching Infineon's community for further support or discussions.
