About

EZ-PD? Barrel Connector Replacement-PLUS (BCR-PLUS) integrates a complete USB-C subsystem which provides the interface to the USB Type-C USB port and comes with a built-in transceiver, protocol stack, and USB PD policy manager, eliminating the need for firmware development. The USB PD block in the system incorporates the necessary termination resistor RD and its switch as specified in the USB PD standard. The RD resistor is essential for performing connection detection, plug orientation detection, and establishing the USB UFP role. EZ-PD? BCR-PLUS incorporates high-power analog components like LDO, gate driver, and discharge FET, reducing both BOM cost and solution footprints. Additionally, it integrates circuitry protections such as overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, VBUS short, and ESD, ensuring a robust and reliable USB-C system solution.

Infineon?s EZ-PD? BCR-PLUS is an easy-to-implement, plug-and-play solution that helps customers add USB-C and USB Power Delivery (PD) to their systems. The highly integrated solution requires no programming or in-depth USB-C knowledge and offers all necessary on-chip analog components and protection circuitry to implement a robust, highly interoperable USB-C power input in any electronic device. The world is replacing old barrel power connectors with USB-C in anticipation of the upcoming common-charger regulation, and the EZ-PD? BCR family offers manufacturers a simple, market-proven solution to make the fastest transition to USB-C.

Infineon's EZ-PD? BCR family controllers are integrated, pre-programmed USB Type-C charging port controllers designed for electronic devices with legacy barrel connectors or USB micro-B connectors, supporting up to 100 W of power. They enable easy integration of USB-C power consumer capability into a device, allowing it to be powered by various USB-C power sources such as chargers, adapters, power banks, and charging ports. These controllers comply with the latest USB Type-C and USB PD standards, enabling designers to quickly transition their devices' power input from a barrel connector to a USB-C connector without invasive changes to their existing designs. EZ-PD? BCR-PLUS offers enhanced configurability, support for PPS (programmable power supply), OCP, and compatibility with legacy charging, while the standard and lite options are simpler solutions for customers that do not require high degrees of customization.
