Infineon's XDP? hot-swap controller family comprises wide input voltage range digital hot-swap and system monitoring controller ICs, designed to meet the reliability and high availability requirements of pluggable Artificial Intelligence (AI) accelerator cards and baseboards as well as a spectrum of telecom applications including remote radio head power, base station power distribution, and live and passive antenna systems of 5G and telecom UPS.?

The XDP? hot-swap controller family employs a three-block architecture combining high-precision telemetry for monitoring and fault detection, digital SOA control optimized for power MOSFETs, and integrated gate drivers for n-channel power MOSFETs. The advanced closed-loop SOA control and the fully digital operating mode (FDM) of the XDP? family results in lower bill-of-material (BOM) costs due to a minimum number of external components and a reduced design time, allowing faster time-to-market. XDP? hot-swap controllers can also support legacy systems in Analog-Assisted Digital Mode (AADM). Furthermore, the Surge Immunity protection ensures high system reliability by differentiating between a surge and a short-circuit event.

Infineon's XDP? protection and monitoring portfolio is enriched by a high-side or low-side digital V/I/P/E/T monitoring IC with a wide input voltage range up to 80 V. It is suitable for a broad range of applications such as servers and datacenters, +/- 48 V DC/DC telecom infrastructure, power distribution systems, network routers and switches, and industrial power supplies.?

The monitoring IC provides continuous and reliable monitoring of input and output voltage, input power as well as on-chip and external temperature usind a dedicated 12-bit current and voltage ADC. Together with its 4-level programmable current sense range, it enables a telemetry accuracy of ¡Ü1%, while the analog current or power can be reported at AMON pin for post-processing. It incorporates several warnings for a safe and reliable operation and generates various protection responses. Compliance with the industry standard is guaranteed using a PMBus 1.3 interface with up to 1 MHz, thus enabling high-speed communication and a reduced error rate. It comes in a small 4mm x 4mm VQFN-24 package.

Infineon's V/I monitoring IC is coming soon with production starting in Q4 2025.

Infineon's XDP? eFuses integrate a XDP71x hot-swap controller, a low RDS(on) OptiMOS? FET, and a current sensor in a single package. They are designed for a wide input voltage range and offer advanced protection features to enable robust and reliable system designs. Through accurate real-time monitoring and reporting of system parameters via PMBus?, XDP? eFuses detect abnormal operating conditions and respond quickly to prevent damage to the system. They are optimized for critical AI server applications such as base boards, power distribution, server cards, and fan control, and therefore play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and uptime of these systems. IPC2221B and IPC9592B high-voltage compliance is ensured, making them suitable for HV system designs.?

The XDP? eFuse family provides analog current reporting for load management as well as Surge Immunity protection along with a multitude of programmable protection features such as (severe) overcurrent, over- and undervoltage, and over temperature protection as well as FET health, VDS and Watchdog protection. Moreover, XDP? eFuses are stackable, hence enable current sharing to achieve higher output currents.
