Low-noise amplifier MMICs for mobile cellular systems: 4G and 5G

anchor

Overview

Infineon LTE (4G) and 5G Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) LNA MMICs are designed to optimize the sensitivity of mobile cellular systems. These MMICs contain gain-switching, biasing, and matching circuitry, and thus allow easy implementation into the RF design. The Infineon portfolio includes a wide variety of solutions from single to quad LNAs in very small standard IC packages optimized for standard cellular frequency bands to address customer needs, including high-linearity LNAs with bypass enable 4 x 4 MIMO reception with high power transmit signals. Infineon 4G/5G LNAs are used in many reference designs of chipset vendors, but can also be found in customized solutions that aim to compensate losses from the antenna to the transceiver; in complex multi-band front-end implementations or long signal lines from distributed antennas or to improve overall system performance.

Key Features

  • Up to 6 GHz
  • Up to 21 dB gain
  • Up to 0.5 dB NF
  • Up to 4.3 mA

About

Using MIPI LNAs provide many benefits:

  • Offers high integration capabilities, simplifying the overall system design and reducing complexity.
  • Designed to provide low Noise Figure (NF), resulting in improved receiver sensitivity and allowing cellular systems to detect and process weak signals more effectively.
  • Provides high linearity, which helps maintain signal integrity and prevent interference, while also improving the dynamic range of the receiver, ensuring reliable reception.

LTE LNAs and 5G LNAs with high linearity are a great addition to smartphones and other applications with a moderate amount of signal interference. These LNAs guarantee that the signal maintains its quality no matter the circumstances. Lower NF results in better signal reception.?

Infineon¡¯s range of 4G/5G LNAs with low NF fit in all applications. Low power consumption is a very important feature for applications where power saving is a main requirement. All applications benefit greatly from low-power LNAs mainly due to their dependence on battery life.
