About

Infineon¡¯s EZ-PD? automotive USB-C charging solution supports the ever-changing specifications for USB type-C chargers. A scalable solution makes it possible to create core designs that are flexible and cost-effective while also cutting down on development expenses and time-to-market. Check out the characteristics of our chipset solutions for automotive USB rear seat power delivery below.

Scalability:?The chipset solution supports single- and dual-port designs for output power of up to 140 W with external MOSFETs.

High integration:?Infineon's EZ-PD? USB PD controllers, including the CCG7D and CCG7S, feature an embedded CPU, flash, LDO, LIN interface, and DC-DC buck-boost controller, enabling compact designs. The EZ-PD? CCG7SAF single PD port controller takes integration to the next level by incorporating 2 x MOSFETs, resulting in an even more compact design and reduced bill of materials (BOM) cost.

Configurability:?Infineon?s integrated flash enables proprietary charging solutions over USB PD, with validated firmware updates.

EZ-PD? CCG7S and EZ-PD? CCG7D are, respectively, single- and dual-port USB PD controllers with integrated DC-DC buck-boost controllers. Based on an Arm? Cortex? processor with 128 KB flash and GPIOs, they can interface with the body control module (BCM) over the LIN interface. In order to do so, Infineon uses a proprietary software interface protocol called the host protocol interface (HPI).

EZ-PD? CCG7S/D can receive OEM/Tier 1 authenticated firmware with an external USB-to-Type-C dongle or over the LIN interface. It then uses the root of trust public key (RoTPK), RSA-2048, and SHA-256 algorithms to validate the firmware before updating its internal flash with the new firmware. This feature enables the EZ-PD? CCG7S/D to be up-to-date with changing USB standards and any other firmware update that might be required for better functionality, even after the vehicle is out of the manufacturer's production line.

By using high-quality components, such as automotive power MOSFETs from Infineon, engineers and automakers keep MOSFET-related failures to an absolute minimum. Our commitment to our customers' success and overall road safety is proven by the fact that all automotive MOSFETs bearing our name uphold the highest possible quality standards, far beyond AEC-Q101.

The portfolio of Infineon¡¯s automotive-qualified OptiMOS? power MOSFETs offers benchmark quality from 20 V to 300 V, robust packages, and RDS(on) down to 0.4 m?.

The MOSFETs convince through:

  • Leading RDS(on) performance in trench technologies
  • Highest current capabilities in standard packages
  • Lowest switching and conduction power losses
  • Robust package technology

Infineon's chipset solutions are designed specifically for the automotive industry, with a focus on performance, safety, and ease of use.
