About

With increased reliability and outstanding performance, Infineon¡¯s CoolSET? AC-DC integrated power stages are designed to offer additional protection to increase system robustness. To achieve fast start-up performance, the fifth-generation controller utilizes the high-voltage power supply IC together with an internal AC-DC switching regulator to operate the start-up sequence in a safe and rapid manner, which is commonly known as cascode configuration.

Infineon¡¯s AC-DC integrated Power Stage product portfolio includes the Fixed Frequency CoolSET? and Quasi-Resonant CoolSET? range of products. The Quasi Resonant CoolSET? is available in both second- and fifth-generation configurations while the range of Fixed Frequency CoolSET? products are available in third- and fifth-generation configurations. The fifth generation CoolSET? power supply IC is targeted for SMPS applications such as auxiliary power supply for home appliances (e.g., washing machines, refrigerators, and air-conditioners), set-top-boxes, LCD/LED monitors, telecom/server, and general-purpose power supply up to a maximum output power of 43 W.

With the latest CoolSET? fifth generation flyback controller with integrated MOSFET, Infineon introduces AC-DC integrated power stages in fixed frequency and quasi-resonant switching scheme. The products show high-performance with the integration of the latest 700 V, 800 V, 950 V CoolMOS? P7 Power MOSFET family in both DIP-7 and DSO-12 packages. Both fixed frequency and quasi-resonant switching scheme have been enhanced from prior generation to offer greater performance and increase robustness. Integrated with 700 V, 800 V, 950 V avalanche rugged CoolMOS? P7 family, the CoolSET? product range is available in both through-hole and SMD packages and thereby eliminates the need of a heatsink and reduces BOM count with a small footprint.?
